The Philippines boasts rich biodiversity, particularly in bat diversity and endemism, yet comprehensive research and documentation efforts are notably lacking across many species, ecosystems, and geopolitical regions. Addressing this gap, BatMapPH has been initiated with the goal of mobilising and consolidating biodiversity records for Philippine bats published in research and field surveys. This initiative operates on the FAIR-data sharing principles, striving to enhance the accessibility and usability of bat occurrence data within a regional and global context, notably through platforms like the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). By centralising and standardising bat biodiversity data, BatMapPH aims to support various crucial applications in research and conservation. For instance, these data can facilitate the development of species distribution models, which are crucial for predicting the impact of environmental changes on bat populations and diversity. Additionally, the platform supports studies aimed at mapping bat-borne diseases, thus contributing to efforts to prevent future spillovers and pandemics. Furthermore, BatMapPH is a collaborative hub for bat ecologists and conservation biologists in the country and abroad. It provides a vital venue for experts to exchange knowledge and share advancements in bat distribution, diversity, ecology, and systematics, fostering a community-driven approach to understanding and safeguarding Philippine bat species. In summary, BatMapPH aims to fill critical gaps in Philippine bat research and documentation and seeks to empower scientists and conservationists across the ASEAN region by providing essential data and fostering collaborative efforts for effective biodiversity conservation and management.

Makiling Biodiversity Information System (MakiBIS) is an online portal of diverse species composition of Mt. Makiling lifted from various published materials. It serves a single repository of biodiversity species documented within MFR that allows user to readily access available information of each taxon via internet. The system shared the information globally-based on standards of Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) using Darwin Core platform, particularly the taxonomic information of the species recorded. MakiBIS is envisioned to be a prototype system that calls for an initiative to have nationwide biodiversity information system known as Philippine Biodiversity Information System (PhilBIS) through interagency and multidisciplinary partnership. The creation of a database system released in the worldwide web provides avenue among users in the world to view and appreciate the ecological importance of biodiversity in any given country.

The Mount Makiling Forest Reserve (MMFR) is an ASEAN Heritage Park located 14°8′ north and 121°12′ east and lies within the 65 km of Metro Manila. MMFR spans a total of 4,244 hectares, straddling parts of the Los Baños, Bay and Calamba Ciy in the province of Laguna and Sto. Tomas in the province of Batangas. With jurisdiction under the University of the Philippines Los Baños, the reserve is managed by the Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems under the College of Forestry and Natural Resources.

Samar Island, the third largest in the country and a key element of the Greater Mindanao Pleistocene Aggregate Island Complex, still harbors swathes of old-growth forest and limestone karst systems, making it a critical site for understanding biogeographic and evolutionary patterns in the Philippines. The herpetofaunal diversity of Samar remains poorly documented, with data scattered and woefully outdated. Early collections date back to the mid-19th century, and while recent efforts have incrementally improved species inventories, a comprehensive and updated assessment remains lacking. Here, we present the results of recent intensive surveys conducted within the Samar Island Natural Park (SINP) and adjacent protected areas.

The Database of NCOS-China includes records of specimen collected in the Marine Biological Museum of Chinese Academy of Sciences during the National Comprehensive Oceanographic Survey (NCOS) from 1958 to 1960. The surveyed area covered the coast of China Seas, including the Bohai Sea, the Yellow Sea, the East China Sea and the South China Sea, almost 1200 sampling stations. Most taxa of marine invertebrates were obtained in this survey. This dataset contains the Crustacea data.

This is a sampling-event dataset of the short-term monitoring in Poblacion and Kadurong Reefs, two of the marine protected areas Municipality of Liloan, Cebu, Philippines. Water quality and ecological assessments were carried out to monitor the status and trends of biological and physical parameters associated with coral reefs using the standard protocols for surveying tropical marine resources. Specifically, the following measurements were conducted: (1) physico-chemical parameters, (2) phytoplankton and zooplankton occurrence and abundance, (3) fish occurrence and density, and (4) percent cover of benthic components of coral reef. The data can serve as the basis for the formulation and implementation of relevant measures for conservation and protection management of the Poblacion and Kadurong Reefs in Liloan, Cebu, Philippines.

The Philippine eagle is the largest forest raptor in the Philippines and the country's National Bird. Organized in 1987, it had before that time been operating as a project undertaking research, rehabilitation and captive breeding. Staffed by highly trained and dedicated personnel, it has today evolved into the country's premiere organization for the conservation of raptors. The Philippine eagle is one of the rarest eagles in the world. It is a giant bird of prey that can only be seen on 4 islands in the Philippines- Luzon, Samar, Leyte, and Mindanao.

Our knowledge of Philippine herpetofauna is rapidly increasing. The ongoing efforts in surveying poorly understudied and unexplored areas in the country are important, as they provide extensive information in accounting for the diversity and distribution of herpetological communities in the country. These occurrence datasets include 35 species of amphibians and reptiles (10 frogs, 12 lizards, 12 snakes, and 1 turtle) based on empirical field-based data from our fieldwork in Mt. Agad-Agad in Lanao del Norte province, in southern Philippines. Our work on the herpetofauna of Mt. Agad-Agad was also recently published in Reptiles & Amphibians Maglangit et al. 2022: Richness and distribution of reptiles and amphibians in the tropical lowland habitats of Mt. Agad-Agad, Iligan City, southern Philippines. (https://doi.org/10.17161/randa.v29i1.18130). To enhance the usability and accessibility of the dataset and augment the gaps, we provide here a substantial dataset that can be utilized in generating species distribution models and initiatives that will support the conservation and protection of Mt. Agad-Agad.
